Our Mission
The Cal Pre-Dental Society (Cal PDS) is a registered student organization at the University of California, Berkeley. We are dedicated to improving the oral health of the surrounding communities while providing professional development for our members through initiatives in education, advocacy, and ethical professional standards.
Cal PDS supports fellow students by providing a forum to address their concerns regarding preparation for dental school and the field of dentistry. We make an effort to assist our members in becoming competitive dental school applicants through educational opportunities, community service, and exposure to the dental field. Past programs sponsored by PDS include conferences, dental professional presentations, dental school tours, socials, shadowing opportunities, practice DAT resources, dental student Q&A panels, in addition to a growing range of other events.
Our Commitment to Our Members
Cal PDS members are required to participate in community service activities offered. Many of our community projects are aimed at advocating dental education as well as oral and general health in underprivileged school-aged communities around the Bay Area. Our biggest project is the Dental Education Outreach Program (DEOP), with which we strive to make a lasting difference in the community through education of our youth.
